When making the commitment to chase the equestrian dream, it is essential to have a team around you to support you along the way. We were fortunate to find a team with the dream at LCH Dressage LLC.
Equestrian sports are some of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the world. We were ever so fortunate to meet Elle Woolley one of Ocala's own local Para-riders vying for a shot at Olympic stardom. Hearing about her dreams, the obstacles she's overcome and her goals for the future has lit the fire in my soul to pursue my own goals.
At the young age of 11, Elle suffered a catastrophic brain anyeurism leaving her paralyzed on the left side of her body and no function in her left arm. Through the healing help of horses, she was able to rehabilitate and regain her ability to walk.
Over time Elle's confidence and dreams grew, inspiring her to purchase an international quality prospect to chase her dressage dreams. As with many of the current dressage prospects on the market, Deucallion proved to be a sassy and expressive drama queen. Fortunately over time, they bonded through their setbacks and with Elle's persistence and determination have been seriously campaigning for the last two years to work their way to the top.
Last week we were able to watch one of Elle's lesson's with Lisa Hellmer Dressage. Lisa has a lovely program and picturesque facility in Dunnellon, Fl. Lisa and her partner
Watching Elle run harmoniously through her warm up one handed, effortlessly performing some of the most accurate 10 meter circles and smooth transitions brought tears to my eyes as I felt the winds of change fuel the magic to pursue some of my own dreams.
With the music stylings of Peaky Blinders filling the air Duke and Elle entered the arena at C before performing a beautifully square halt at X before beginning their dance. Their freestyle was beautifully choreographed to showcase their expressive gaits and harmony. The music curated to each step in a masterpiece suited for the international stage.
Daring to dream is honestly one of the most underrated but brave things a person can do. Speaking your dreams to the world can be extremely scary because of the cynicism and negativity that does exist. Sometimes your closest loved ones and friends can be your biggest critics but Elle has inspired me to pursue my own Olympic dressage aspirations to represent the small island of Samoa on the international stage. Having friends who support your dreams ando feed the "delulu" is so helpful to keep you motivated on the dark days and when you suffer setbacks on your journey or suffer the negative projection of others.
Elle has become a good friend and we've begun our quest for dressage stardom not only in the barn but at the gym. I for one can tell you there is no better gym buddy than an ambitious soon to be Olympian who will humble you in every way and light a fire in your soul with their enthusiasm. I'm so thankful to have made such an amazing and inspring connection in th industry.
Though there may typically only be two hearts with one dream in the dressage ring, equestrian dreams wouldn't be possible without a dedicated team of supporters. We always have to have gratitude for the family, friends, trainers, vets, farriers, sponsors and a few guardian angels behind the scenes making all the things possible. I loved seeing the harmony and happiness so much at LCH Dressage LLC that I think I may have found Cake and I a new coach.
